It has been said that Jim Anderson has a room for life at the “Home of the Chronically Groovy”. Long time Cleveland musician starting back in the late 60's, Jim was the former lead guitarist for "The Rebel Kind", "The Shades of Gray", "The Choir" (It's Cold Outside), and most recently, “Forever Young”. He is currently enjoying his acoustic side, playing as “Jim & Denise” with Denise Geisler; jazz & blues with Bob Walker in “Bob’s Jazz Cats”; and a little bit of everything he loves now with “No Moss”. A talented songwriter as well, Jim has been a feature artist at Cain Park, Willoughby Fine Arts, Orange Village Summer Series and featured on local TV program Random Acts of Music. Jim's biggest fan is his wife Michelle, who loves and supports the band and all his other music endeavors. They have two kids, and two grandkids.
Bob Walker is a married father of three whose day job is practicing law. Bob has been playing drums in bands since age 12! In addition to recently joining up with Denise, Jim and Bill to form No Moss, Bob also drums for The Transportation Boulevard Jazz Band and drums and sings with Rule 11 & The Sanctions (rock and pop). Over the years, Bob has performed with several rock and jazz ensembles, most recently recording with Boho Zen (four CD's of original material, including "Release Me") and gigging with the No Name Band. He also wrote, performed and produced a solo album of original music entitled 'Literal.' Bob and his wife Cindy sing with the Church of the Holy Angels Choir, along with Denise and Jim.
Denise Geisler, lends her smooth vocal style to a wide variety of music including acoustic, old jazz standards, blues, Rock & Roll and pop. She was influenced early on by all the great vocal artists of the 60’s & 70’s. Throughout the years she has played guitar and still sings for church, having appeared on several solo recordings for Holy Angels church. Former lead vocalist for “Forever Young” (rock, blues band), she currently plays out acoustically at local venues with Jim Anderson as the “Jim & Denise Duo”. “No Moss” is just an extension of all the great music she loves to perform. Her husband Doug, and their two daughters are die-hard "No Moss" fans.
Bill Hanna, a Database Administrator by day, plays 4 and 5 string basses. Bill has been playing bass and guitar in various rock and fusion bands since age 14. His influences range from Percy Heath and Chris Wood to John Entwistle and Geddy Lee. Although he's not strictly a jazz player, Bill very much enjoys the challenge of improvisational music and loves to play with lots of different musicians. In their free time, he and his wife Colleen enjoy cooking, travel, going to concerts and spending time with family.
Jim and Denise also perform in a Duo (JimDeniseDuo.com), and Bob has performed with Jim and Bill in Bob's Jazz Cats, and is the drummer for several other local bands including No Name Band, Rule 11 and the Sanctions, and Transportation Blvd.
NO MOSS began in 2012 as an impromptu "band" at a fundraiser at Nighttown as Bob and Bill joined in with the Jim & Denise Duo. Didn't take much for Jim & Bob to realize "Hey, that was FUN!". After a few months, NO MOSS was born to see how much fun it could REALLY be! Musical genres include old standards, pop, country, jazz blues and good old Rock-n-Roll spanning the past 50+ years. Guitarist Jim Anderson and drummer Bob Walker lead this foursome into places that truly groove. What can we say? That’s just how we roll…
